Andhra Pradesh to boost Wind Power Generation

Delivering the inaugural address at a CII Conference, Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew said to the attendees that her state is all set to increase the pace of Wind Power Generation.
Andhra Pradesh currently has a installed Capacity of 197MW and it will add nearly 200MW of Wind Power within a few months and also has a wind project pipeline of 2,636 MW under various stages of planning.
For attracting solar and wind IPP's in the state, the state government is also planning a new and improved tariff mechanism. The state is high need for power as the state's consumption for power increased from 605 units in 2005-06 time frame to 1,039 units in 2011-12 time frame. Nedcap, Andhra's nodal agency for renewable energy sources need to driven in high gear to reduce the power crisis.
