Maoist areas in India set to recieve Solar power based water systems

Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh has informed the lokhsabha that indian government is going ahead with it's plans to install 10,000 Solar power based water systems to supply drinking water to the population the in 78 Maoist-affected ares

The project is expected to be funded using the National Rural Drinking Water Programme and the National Clean Energy Fund.

Jairam Ramesh also said that about Rs 540 crore have been earmarked for this project and 200 such systems have already been set up in Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra.
