The main objective of the plan is to convert 5% of total non-renewable energy consumption to renewable generation. Saving 10% of the city's non-renewable energy consumption will be the ultimate goal of the model solar city. But first a pilot project worth Rs19 crore will be envisioned, which will be equally shared by the Indian government and the Nagpur Muncipal corporation.
