Innovators finding new ways to embrace solar power at Solarcon'12 conference and Expo

Though we have attended an array of Solar events in the past, Solarcon'12 have turned out to be something truely different - mainly due to the shear number of new startup companies in the show and most of them have just brilliant ideas and products.

The era of  first-generation applications like Solar lanterns, lighting and heaters have passed. Now innovators here in India are thinking just beyond these old technologies. We will describe a few applications which caught our eye in a series of two articles.

Solarator

HHV Solar, a solar product manufacturer based in bangalore, have introduced a Mobile Solar Generator which could power campsites, disaster sites and construction sites.

Features:
- Input: 600W
- Output: 2KWh
- Uses two 300W solar mono crystalline solar modules
- Trailer-mounted structure and foldable
- It can be carried or airlifted to disaster sites
- To prevent a short circuit, all electronic and electrical components are placed in a water proof compartment at the bottom of the trailer houses.
- Capable of supplying power for 6 hours.

Solarator is expected to be priced at Rs. 4 lakh a unit.

Stay tuned for other applications..
