First Solar tightning screws on Indian market; wins 50MW module supply deal from Kiran Energy, Mahindra Solar One

Thin Film giant First Solar has said that it has signed 50 MW module supply agreement from Kiran Energy and Mahindra Solar One. First Solar has supplied nearly 225 MW of modules to solar PV projects across india and is currently the top thin film module manufacturer in India with a 20% Market share. First Solar also recently bagged an 25 MW Solar module supply order from Green Infra, which is currently being developed in Rajasthan.

First solar will supply modules for the projects of both kiran energy and Mahindra Solar One, which these developers won during the second round of bidding under the JNSM. Kiran Energy won a 20 MW project and Mahindra Solar One had won 20 MW and 10 MW Solar PV Project. And all these projects are being set up in Rajasthan.

These projects are slated to begin construction this year and is expected to come fully online by 1Q'13.

Mahindra Solar One is a joint venture of the Bessemmer Ventures and IFC-funded Kiran Energy and the Mahindra group.
