As Diesel prices and electricity prices are going up, there is seen a significant demand for Solar Power at both residential and Commercial level and Indian Temples are setting a benchmark in energy conservation, which is replicated through out the country.  The Latest Temple to go Solar in India is the Santhapeta Saibaba temple, which is located in Santhapet, Ongole, Andhra Pradesh.

As a part of the plan to go green, the trust had installed Solar street lights all across the massive campus and will install Solar PV Plants on Roof tops. Its secretary ''Sai pada Sevakudu'' Alahari Chenchala Rao told reporters that ''we are also going to install solar panels on the temple terrace to tap the abundant solar energy and find a permanent solution to the power woes''.

Massive Electricity Charges led the decision to go for Solar:

The electricity bill which used to be around Rs 7,000 per month when the temple was constructed 15 years ago, had now shot up to Rs 35,000 and it accounted for half of the temple monthly maintenance expense of Rs 70,000, Rao explained.
