Welspun's 15MW Solar Project in Rajasthan Starts Producing Power

According to the Company Release, Welspun Energy (link), the largest Solar developer in India, has announced that they have commissioned a 15 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan for which Welspun had quoted a tariff of Rs 8.14 per unit.

The Project, was part of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission's second batch project series. welspun had won three projects totaling 50MW, during the Bid for the Second batch projects and all these projects are being installed in Phalodi Tehsil ( district of Jodhpur) Rajasthan. 


Welspun's JNNSM second batch Projects include two 15MW ones and a 20MW project. The remaining two projects are expected to come online within few weeks, as their Schedule for construction completion under the contract is expiring on Feb 26th 2013.

Welspun, which is having an operational capacity of Solar plants totaling 300MW, is also constructing India's largest Solar Project, a 130MW Solar PV Project, which is coming up in Madhya Pradesh and is expected to come online by late 2013.

Welspun looking to expand beyond Rajasthan:

Welspun is looking beyond Rajasthan, as they are expanding their footprint in Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar and West Bengal, through Utility scale Solar Projects.
