Indian Renewable Energy Sector creates 50,000 New Jobs

In the latest figures released by the Indian Government, India created more than 50,000 new jobs directly in Renewable Energy field in the last three years. 

Off which most of the Jobs were created in the off-grid sector. It is estimated that employment for nearly 40 people is generated during erection and commissioning of a 1-2 MW PV Project. This number increases by approximately 15 for every additional 1 MW capacity. In the case of solar thermal projects, it is estimated that up to 500 personnel are employed in a 20 MW capacity power project. In last three years 419.21 MUs (Upto Jan. 2013) of Solar Energy has been generated. 

At the O&M stage, as per rough estimates, one to two persons are required per MW depending on project size. 

Also according to Gokul R Prabhu, the Renewable Energy specialist in Renew India Campaign "MNRE has set ambitious goals for improving the overall human resource pool in the Renewable Sector, and this can be seen in the New JNNSM Phase 2 draft policy which MNRE Released earlier, which aims to create 100,000 trained and specialized personnel across the skill spectrum by end of the phase"
