Tata Power Outlines Ambitious Renewable Plans

Tata Power has announced today it's plans to set up at least 250 MW of renewable energy every year. The Company, which has a portfolio of 873 MW Renewable Power facilities like Hydro, Wind and Solar, has plans to increase their Clean energy portfolio to at least  20-25 percent of its generation portfolio within 2020. 

"Our solar and wind energy assets are performing well and we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint through clean and renewable energy generation. We plan to add 30-50 MW of solar power and 150-200 MW of wind energy in India every year," company's Managing Director Anil Sardana said in a statement. 

"So far, Tata Power has invested Rs 2,393 crore in solar and wind energy," he said. 

Tata's Operational Green Generation Portfolio:

Solar Capacity: 28 MW
This includes 25 MW Mithapur Solar Project in Gujarat, 3 MW Mulshi Solar Project

Wind Capacity: 397 MW
This includes Wind farms in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Rajasthan. 

Overseas Green Portfolio:
- 240 MW geothermal project in Indonesia with partnership with PT Supraco.
Two wind projects of 234 MW including Amakhala 139 MW and Tsitsikamma 95 MW projects in South Africa. 
- The Company is also developing Wind Projects in Australia
