Welspun's 20MW Wind Energy Project starts feeding the Grid

One of India's leading renewable energy developers, Welspun Energy Ltd. (WEL) has announced that they have commissioned a 20 MW wind power project in Jaisalmer district, Rajasthan. The Project which was developed within three months, utilizes ten wind turbines and is capable of generating 43.1 GWh per year and is expected to have a capacity utilization factor of 24.2%.

Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Ltd has signed a PPA with Welspun. Welspun said the project was funded through a 75:25 debt-equity ratio. The company also said they have tied-up with leading Wind turbine player & turnkey consultant for the project. The Project is expected to power over 11,616 households in the state.

With this project Welspun has cemented it's leading position in the state of Rajasthan, which has tremendous renewable energy potential. Including this project Welspun now operates 80 MW capacities of Renewable energy projects in the state. The company is also developing wind projects in Karnataka and Rajasthan.
