NHPC's 82MW Wind Project coming up in Kerala

Kerala State Power Minister Aryadan Mohammed has announced that the state's power utility Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has signed a deal with Nation Hydel Power Corp (NHPC) for setting up wind farm in the state.

NHPC, as part of diversification of Power Generation portfolio is moving towards Wind Generation. The Proposed Wind farm will have a capacity of 82 MW and will be installed in Palakkad. The Minister said that the 500 acres of land for construction has been identified and the power plant will come up in two years.

The project is being developed in Built-Operate-Own-Transfer scheme, through which NHPC will build, operate and own the project and later will be transferred to KSEB. Also KSEB will sign a PPA with them. 

The Total cost of the Project is estimated at RS 500 crore.
