E-ON to expand Solar business in United States

According to Reuters, German electric Utility giant, E-ON has said that it is plannig to expand it's Solar portfolio in United States. E-ON plans to develop nearly 120MW  of Solar power plants in US annually from 2015 and beyond.

E-ON also revealed tbat it is building it's first Solar project in US state of Arizona. The project has a Name plate capacity of 8MW. E-ON is not considered a major player till now. The Utilities total PV portfolio stood at about 56 MW till September 2011. By comparison, the company's planned hard-coal fired plant, Datteln 4, will alone have a capacity of 1,055 MW.

The U.S. solar market is shaping up to be significantly larger than anticipated and could end up installing nearly 3.3 GW of solar panels in 2012, a roughly 18 percent jump from the previous forecast of 2.8 GW, according to a report from GTM Research and Solar Energy Industries Association
