Trina Solar has cut its full year forecast for solar module shipments to 1.75-1.80 GW from 2-2.1 GW

Chinese Solar module Major Trina Solar has said in its second quarter 2012 press release that it has cut the full year forecast for module shipments to 1.75-1.8 GW from 2-2.1GW scale, all thanks to lower demand in European region.

Trina reported a second Quarter sales of $346.1 Million, with a loss of second-quarter net loss of $92.1 million. Gross margin for the module giant was 8.4%. Similar to all Solar majors the margin is steadily in the downward direction due to increased inventory and high competition.

For the third Quarter 2012 the company expects to ship in between
450 to 480MW of solar modules. Also as of June 2012, the company has ingot and Wafer production capacity of 1.2GW and Trina also has a PV cell and Module capacity of 3.4GW.

Trina also achieved a new world record for it's TUV Rheinland laboratory tested monocrystalline module power output of 284.7Watts Peak. The Module was manufactured using Honey Ultra Technology.

Similar ro First Solar, Trina also started to plough in to the installation market, by signing agreements with local government bodies for large scale Utility projects in China.
