18-20 MW Solar PV Project being planned at Emerging Kerala meet

Emerging Kerala 2012, conducted to attract global investors throught the globe was concluded yesterday in Cochin, the largest city in the south Indian state of Kerala.

The meet brought about 45 major project proposals with an investment of over Rs.40,000 crore ($7.15 Billion) which included the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd’s Cochin Refinery expansion, Engine assembly unit of Volkswagen (Rs.2,000 crore), hospital and pre-cast concrete structure manufacturing unit (Rs.570 crore).

But the Project which we like happening are two specific projects; One a Solar project and other an Electric Scooter project.

The Solar PV project is being planned in Palakkad, a district of kerala which has a high solar irradiation and also has a large area of open land, which is scarce to find in kerala. The project will be developed by Minar group and Ravano Solar, a Solar developer based in Genoa, Italy having an indian subsidiary in Bangalore with a total project cost of Rs. 500 crores.

The project is expected to have a size of 18-20MW of nameplate capacity.
