DONG Energy has announced that, Major Wind Turbine Supplier, Siemens AG have entered into agreements, which would see the company supply 924 MW of Wind Turbines, each having a capacity of 6MW. The agreement will result in installations of Wind Turbines in Gode Wind projects, which it had acquired on August last year. Utilization of the potential supplies and services under the agreements is subject to official approvals for the specific projects

Siemens will provide 6MW wind turbines, having gearless direct drive technology and with a 154-metre rotor.

”With these agreements we are stepping up our commitment to the German offshore wind market. We are already building our first wind farm in Germany and maturing a number of other projects, including the Gode Wind projects on which we plan to use the supplies under these agreements,” said Samuel Leupold, Executive Vice President in DONG Energy Wind Power.

By 2020 we want to have installed 6,500 megawatt of offshore wind power compared to the 1,700 megawatt we have already built. The agreements with Siemens AG are an important step towards meeting that target. I am therefore pleased we have completed the tender and concluded agreements for the turbines.”
