According to reports, Ministry of Commerce spokesman Shen Danyang said on Saturday, that "Beijing and Berlin should work toward boosting negotiations to end the dispute between China and the European Union over import duties for solar panels."

He also added "China has urged the EU to avoid any form of protectionism against Chinese products"

Germany's major solar module manufacturer SolarWorld and other European solar panel manufacturers recently filed an anti-dumping case with the European Commission in July. CASM, which was a group formed SolarWorld and other Solar module manufacturers in US had also filed an module dumping case against China. The commission has 45 days, from the submission, to rule on whether an investigation should be held.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel recently said Germany has no interest in starting a trade war with Beijing over solar exports to Europe, but stressed in recent remarks that China must take action to address distortions to fair competition in the sector.
