According to the latest report by KPMG, "The Rising Sun" has predicted that India has a huge potential for Solar energy, including Solar thermal and they predict about 12,500MW of Solar power will be installed in the country by 2016-17.
To achieve this goal, utilities and regulators must focus on creating an enabling environment recognizing the specific characteristics of solar power says Arvind Mahajan of KPMG.
KMPG also highlights in the report that Indian government should start providing the neccessary infrastructural support and healthy regulation ammentments like lease structure or net metering to allow access to rooftop and small-scale solar power projects (Similar to Solar City in US) which will tremondously accelerate the indian solar residential market.
The central and state government must need to provide the necessary support to the solar industry over the next five years.
