The island of Peurto rico (a US Governed territory) is in the lime light by installing the largest solar energy project which is capable of producing enough power to cater 12,000 average PR families. This solar project is located in Puerto Rican municipality of Guayama.
The power produced by this AES Solar project will be sold to PR's government owned electric utility AEE. AEE has signed a 20 year PPA with the project. Gov. Luis Fortuño, who was present at the inugraul occation said that it is the most ambitious solar power facilities in the entire United States.
About 200 temperory jobs were created during the construction, which was funded through the US Federal grants. With this project Puerto Rico has stamped the authority in Carribean area by becoming the leading green power producing island. This AES solar Project is the largest Solar project in whole of Carribean.
