Power Grid Corporation of India, which is the nation's Central Transmission Utility (CTU) is planning to construct Transmission Lines in North India to safely transmit Green Energy and to increase grid reliability.
Planned Projects:
- Northern Region System Strengthening Scheme - XXVII
This is a Northern Grid Reliability improvement project which is expected to have a total investment of Rs 96.27 crores and the Project is expected to be completed within 20 months of Environmental and Regulatory Approvals.
- Augmentation of Transformers in Northern Region - Part-A
This is Rs 156.04 crore which is also focused on improving grid reliability and the Project is expected to be completed within 22 months of Environmental and Regulatory Approvals.

As on 30th November 2012 Power Grid of India currently owns and operates about 96,303ckt kms of transmission lines
at 800/765kV, 400kV, 220kV & 132kV EHVAC & +500kV HVDC levels
and 159 sub-stations with transformation capacity of about 1,52,948 MVA .
