In a Press Release, Mahindra REVA has named its new electric car variant as the Mahindra e 20. Also the Car is expected to hit Indian Streets early this year.
The Electric Car which is Pronounced as the 'Ee-too-oh' will be produced at
Mahindra Reva's newly inaugurated production facility in Bangalore, which is India's
first platinum certified automobile plant. Also the Plant has a Manufacturing capacity of 30,000 Cars/Annum.
"The Mahindra e 2o is a game changing development within the personal mobility space that will help the Mahindra Group usher in a positive change in the lives of our customers" said Dr. Pavan Goenka, President, Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra.
Story behind the Name:
The Mahindra e 20 was named by utilizing the overall Mahindra
Reva philosophy of "inspired by orange to go green" for sustainable
living.
'e' - Energy of the Sun
'2' - Encompasses the connected technologies in the car
'O' - Oxygen, which sustains our existence on Earth.
Technology:
The New Car will be powered by Lithium Ion batteries and is expected to have a range of 100 km/Charge. The Charging Connector utilized will be a 15 ampere plug. Also the Car can be Charged using the ‘Sun2Car’ system, which contains solar Modules, which converts solar
energy into electrical energy. The Sun2Car Technology was demonstrated during the inauguration of thenew plant in Bangalore. The model which was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show, was designed by Dilip Chhabria.
