Bijapur, Karnataka to get 500MW Solar Farm

A Solar Project with a potential to generate up to 500MW of power will be developed near Mannur village in Bijapur district.

According to Reports, Shobha Karandlaje, Karnataka's energy minister said while inaugurating a 3MW solar power project in Yapaladinni in Raichur, that a new Solar Power Park will be built in an area spread over 5,000 acres of land.
Minister said that the land acquisition process is underway and the land will be transferred to Karnataka Power corporation once the land aquisition ends.

Areas adjacent to Mannur district gets nearly 300 days of sunshine, which makes the area well suited for a solar park. Minister also noted that the project would be built in phases starting with a 100MW project which will be completed within 18 months. Also investors will also be welcomed to invest in the park, where they will be alotted slots in the park.

This news comes as no surprise as the Karnataka state has a renewable plan to farm 4300mw from renewable sources of energy in the coming two years involving an investment of over Rs23,000 crore ($4.1 Billion)
