First Solar, the largest CdTe( Thin film) module manufacturer in the world has informed that it is going to end Module supply to Agua Caliente Solar Project. NRG Energy and Warren Buffets MidAmerican Energy owned 290MW project which was under construction in Arizona was the largest Solar PV project.

Situated on 2,400 acres of land between Yuma and Phoenix, AZ, the Agua Caliente project has secured all necessary permits for construction. Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation had signed a PPA with this project for 25 years.

Also First Solar is facing tough days as Crystalline Module Manufacturers are getting higher module effeciencies. First Solar's competitor Sunpower's module efficiency has
improved to more than 21%, but First Solar's module efficiency still in 15% effeciency range. Also crystalline module prices are continuing to go into a downhill trend.

But still under these uncertainties First Solar posted a really good second Quarter 2012 results, which surprised the investors. Also there are rumours that First Solar may start a manufacturing plant in India.
