Japan's Largest Solar Project coming up in Tottori

Japans new power tarriff schemes and Fukushima Nuclear episode are accelarating renewable deployements in the country.

Japan's third largest Mobile phone company, Softbank Corp. and  Mitsui & Co. a trader of metals and oil and gas (also fuel provider for Japanese Utilities), is planning to build which is slated to be the largest Solar PV Project in Japan. This Solar project is constructed at a site in Yonago in Tottori Prefecture. This project has a capacity to produce 39.5MW of Solar Power. The construction of the project is expected to start next month.

Once the project becomes online, it will be japans largest Solar Project till date. Softbank Corp. are also planning a 111MW at the Japanese island of Hokkaido and they are expecting it to be online by 2014.

Softbanks Plans doesnt end there;
They are also planning to develop about 230 megawatt renewable capacity in Japan and a high percentage of the capacity additions are expected to be from the Solar side.
