Renewable Energy is all set to
explode in India with over 30GW of
Renewable power generation generation planned in the coming 3 years.
India is currently facing acute power shortages and the need for more power is cemented by the Massive blackout which affected the most of North India.
According to Tarun Kapoor, Joint Secretary of MNRE, India will install nearly 30,000 MW of Renewable Power by the end of 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17) and will have cumalative net capacity of 55,000MW by then.
Wind power to be the leader.
Of the projected 30GW of Renewable power, wind energy will occupy a big chunk. ie nearly 15GW. Also Solar power will also see a great rise specifically in Gujurat and Rajasthan. Also another trend we see recently is the rise in solar projects in Non traditional Indian states, specifically states like Kerala is seeing a healthy rise in Solar projects.
Kerala Government has planned to increase it's Renewable power portfolio by the recently announcing it's 10,000 Solar Home Project.
