Solar Powered lights to be delivered to 100 Poor families in Kolkata before Durga Pooja

100 poor families in bagbazar, a suburb in Kolkata, the capital of the indian state of West Bengal, where students have passed their exams by just studying under streetlights will recieve solar module powered home lighting systems to mark the 150th birthday of Swami Vivekananda.

These 100 families are set to recieve solar module powered lighting systems with support from three ngo's Medical Bank, Amar Adhikar and Ichhe Dana.

The project is expected to have a total cost of Rs 3.15 Lakhs ($5,700).

WBREDA(West Bengal Renewable Energy Development agency) has said it will bear 30% sudsidy and the remaining of the project will be funded by IT giant Tech Mahindra.

The selected families are expected to get the Solar module powered lighting systems before Durga pooja festivities; the largely celebrated festival in Kolkata.
