Solar to Power 60% of IIM Trichy's New 172 acre campus

India's Leading Management Studies Institute, Indian Institute of Management has announced it's plans for it's New Green Campus in Trichy, spanning an area of 172 Acres.

The Campus which will be located at Trichy-Pudukottai highway, 17 km south-east of the city center will be a Complete green Campus and is expected to utilize Solar PV Plants to cover the 60% of the it's Power requirements. 

Other Green Measures in the Campus:

- Will be a Zero waist Campus
- Recycled water will be utilized for greenery maintenance
- Also the Campus architects were advised to design the campus building in such a way that, it would facilitate water harvesting. Also the plans are designed in such a way that, the big stream which passes through the campus will be filled with full of water, within the next 3 to 4 years and a small artificial pond is also being planned. 

IIM Trichy's new campus will contain about 15 classrooms. There would be bigger, medium an small sized one's which will accommodate 150, 75 and 50 students respectively. All the classrooms in the new campus will be equipped with latest technological facilities. Also the facility will also house New Technological features like live teaching session recording facilities and data storage facilities which will help students search archives and other Teaching lessons. Also the campus hostel is expected to house 500 students.

The estimated project cost is Rs 300 crore and the Bangalore based Architects - Chandavarkar & Thacker Associates is selected to prepare the Master Plan.
